[DYSPHAGIA] Neuromuscular Facial Retraining

Several people have emailed or called me regarding my post on Bells palsy
and facial retraining. Yes, we are planning on presenting a workshop next
year for speech pathologists dealing with evaluation, planning a training
program, use of instrumentation, i.e. feedback, the e-stim controversy, and
hopefully hands-on experience. It will probably be in the late summer since
we are presenting a workshop in April on Breathing Difficulties in the
Athlete. I will post more information when dates are set. It's nice to
know there is an interest in this area -- it is a very rewarding area of
work for SLP's, and we are the only discipline that can tie speech and
swallowing problems into a treatment program for these patients -- sort of
one stop shopping for the patient.
