[DYSPHAGIA] Beckman's Oral Motor Course

I have taken the courses and do use it with the population I serve, children and adults with developmental disabilities and with DD/MI. I use the assessment in conjunction with a functional assessment during an actual meal with someone who can not or will not follow simple commands. Based on the findings, I can develop oral motor interventions using the same testing exercises and train staff or family to carry them out, usually prior to a meal and/or oral hygiene. I complete monthly reassessments to determine change over time, as these exercises can be reported as percentages to document progress.

Has anyone attended Debra Beckman's course on Oral-Motor Assessment and
Intervention and found the techniques useful for adults with dysphagia? If
so, what types of deficits have they helped you treat? Thanks, Susan
