Hello Fellow Association Leaders,
The Multicultural Issues Board is aware that as a busy Association
leader, your ASHA Convention schedule is likely full with a number of
meetings and sessions. Given the limited amount of time that you will
have outside of Legislative Council meetings, we know that you will have
to pick and choose with great care, those events that you can attend.
We are hopeful that you will demonstrate your commitment to cultural
diversity by accepting this personal invitation to attend the annual
Multicultural Concerns Collective, or MC2 Meeting. The MC2 meeting will
be held on Friday, November 16th in the Versailles Ballroom of the
Hilton Hotel from 8:00-9:30 p.m. In keeping with the theme of this
year's convention, "2001: A Professional Odyssey," our focus for the MC2
meeting this year 2001: An Odyssey in Unity." Please join us if you can,
as each of the multicultural constituent groups provides a unique
perspective on how we are all connected or how we are more alike than we
are di!
fferent, and shares tokens of unity with those present.

Also, ASHA will be holding its 3rd Minority Student Leadership Program
at the Convention in New Orleans. The program is a forum for students
from racial/ethnic minority groups to experience and participate in a
set of leadership-focused educational programs and activities at the
annual ASHA Convention designed to build and enhance their leadership
skills, increase their understanding of how the Association works, and
allow them to interact with leaders in the professions of audiology,
speech-language pathology and speech, language and hearing sciences. As
a part of their Convention experience, the students will be observing
some Committee and Board meetings on the morning of Wednesday, November
14th. Please make the students feel welcome.

See you in New Orleans!

Chair, Multicultural Issues Board
