The Manitoba Speech and Hearing Association


The Manitoba Speech and Hearing Association would like to invite you to =
their annual conference on January 24 and 25, 2002 in Winnipeg, =
Manitoba.

OUR SPEAKERS FOR THE CONFERENCE ON THURSDAY JANUARY 24 INCLUDE:

Dr. Barbara Weinstein, Audiologist. Dr. Weinstein is from Lehman =
College, Bronx, New York. She will present on geriatric audiology.

Candace Myers, Speech-Language Pathologist. Ms. Myers is currently =
involved in the comprehensive, multidisciplinary care of individuals =
with head and neck cancer at St. Boniface General Hospital and Cancer =
Care Manitoba in Winnipeg. She will provide an update on speech-language =
pathology involvement in head and neck cancer and address communication =
and swallowing issues at the end of life.

Dr. George Webster, Clinical Ethicist. Dr. Webster serves on the Health =
Care Ethics Service at the St. Boniface General Hospital, Winnipeg, =
Manitoba. He is an assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine, =
University of Manitoba. He will speak to the involvement of =
communication disorders with the Health Care Ethics and our experience =
of the "ethical."

Dr. Charlotte Evans, Speech-Language Pathologist. Dr. Evans will present =
on language acquisition and cognitive processing in deaf children.

Marilyn Langevin, Speech-Language Pathologist, Director of the Institute =
for Stuttering Treatment and Research, Edmonton, Alberta and Bev Ross, =
Speech-Language Pathologist, Institute for Stuttering Treatment and =
Research, Edmonton, Alberta will focus on preschool and school age =
dysfluency treatment.

AAC Services in Manitoba. This session will feature organizations in =
Manitoba that are involved in AAC services.

OUR SPEAKERS FOR THE CONFERENCE ON FRIDAY JANUARY 25 INCLUDE:

Dr. Anne Marie Tharpe, Audiologist. Dr. Tharpe is from Vanderbilt =
University and will present on pediatric audiology.

Elizabeth (Libby) S. Rush, Speech-Language Pathologist, Director, Dept. =
of Speech, Language and Hearing Services at the Murdoch Center in =
Butner, North Carolina and Grace O. Williams, Speech-Language =
Pathologist and Augmentative and Assistive Technology Specialist, for =
the Brunswick Co. Schools in North Carolina, will present on "AAC: Using =
Symbol Communication Functionally."

Dr. Irene Campbell-Taylor, Clinical Neuroscientist. Dr. Irene =
Campbell-Taylor is currently the Senior Manager at Surrey Place Centre =
in Toronto, Ontario. Dr. Campell-Taylor will address issues related to =
clinical assessment of oropharyngeal/esophageal dysphagia.

Dr. Martha Crago, Speech-Language Pathologist. Dr. Crago is from McGill =
University, Montreal, Quebec. She will present on language and cultural =
issues regarding multicultural assessments.
