[Dysphagia] use of thickener and early satiety

Hello list,

I tried doing a quick pubmed search to find any research to support this statement below but could not find anything. Is there research to support this statement?

"the thickeners that are gum based cause a false satiety leading to slow gastric emptying and malnutrition because of a lack of appetite for the food. This probably applies to the starch based ones as well but has not, to my knowledge been proven as has slow gastric emptying with gums and fiber."

Thanks,

Sharon
