I've seen the below before, but it came across my e-mail yesterday and I thought it might be a good link to recall why it is so important to approach each individual no matter how apparently disabled with respect and as though they have normal intelligence. 
This is not about a dementia patient, but about an individual  with CP after being born with the cord wrapped around his neck. However, the principle is the same. It's also about a remarkable father who did more than verbally advocate for his son.
