[Dysphagia] Lateral Medullary Syndrome - Wallenberg Syndrome

Hello All

A colleague has just asked me about Wallenberg syndrome. She has a pt with
the following info. I'm having problems searching the archives at the moment,
but I know this has come up before.

We're most interested in prognosis and intervention (evidence based would be
nice - dream on...)

Any ideas welcome.

Thanks

Paula

70-year-old male
Diagnosis via MRI: Subacute R dorso-lateral medullary infarct secondary to an
occluded right intradural vertebral artery (aka Wallenberg Syndrome)
VFSS:	Absent swallow response, frank penetration and aspiration all
trials, cough response initiated, no change with manoeuvres
Rec:	NBM, continue NG, likely PEG (for various other reasons not stated
here)
Therapy:	?...Thermal-Tactile Stimulation, wait and reassess?
Prognosis:	?...wait and see?
