I just wanted to put my .02 worth in the pot. I received my bachelor and master degrees in the 80's as a returning student. There were no swallowing courses at all. All of my education after receiving my master's in swallowing was at workshops of which I have attended at least one a year since 1993 as well as direct teaching from a superior SLP at my first rehab job. I also keep myself in the "know" as much as possible by joining and reading listservs as this one. I truly feel competent as an SLP in the area of swallowing. I know I will always have something new to learn and value everyone's opinion. In fact, I enjoy reading all the differences of opinions here. I have learned so much and thank you all.
