[Dysphagia] Coke vs. Pepsi

I did come across an article a while ago that talked about using unpastuerised pineapple juice to help dissolve an impacted meat bolus. The actual title now escapes me, sorry! but it was apparently quite efficacious. Here's a summary of carbonated beverages in food bolus impaction

Urban myth has it that acids in Coca-Cola will tenderize meat. I suppose that is what is behind this recommendation. The fizz is not the factor.

I came across an interesting reference from "Digestive Health Center" (published by University of Virginia Health System) regarding "Nutrition Guidelines Following Esophageal Stent Placement. General guideline #8: If food ever feels "stuck" in your throat take a couple sips of Coca-Cola (not Pepsi). This will help dislodge food from your esophagus. You may want to repeat this throughout the day, especially before and after each meal.
I understand the concept that a carbonated beverage may possibly loosen up lodged food, but I certainly hope the person only takes a few small sips, then pauses. But why Coca-Cola vs Pepsi? I have no preference for either one, just curious as to why one is better than the other. Any thoughts? Diane Grabo
