Irene, what is your experience in using it with adults who have severe to
profound developmental disabilities? How do you keep them from harming
themselves on the insertion device?
*** I have seen it used most often and most successfully with both adults with profound DD and elders with dementing illnesses. It is used overnight for perhaps 2 or 3 nights a week or whatever is prescribed, with the needle placed on the lower abdomen under the appropriate garment and the tube going out the end of the bed. The patient is not aware that it is present once inserted (almost completely painless) and I have never seen anyone trying to remove it.
