[Dysphagia] Sjogren's Syndrome



DPNS is not recommended for xerostomia. The SLP may have mixed up the fact
that lemon stimulates saliva but not lemon glycerin swabs. You are not wrong
and thank you for picking this up as it could be just what should not be
done in this case. Oral moisturizers and the Oral Balance Line of products
are quite successful, as well as constantly sipping water and chewing
sugarless gum. These are able to often make the oral cavity feel better
while they often stimulate saliva and assist with speaking and swallowing.
She should avoid dry foods and use gravy, sauces and butter or olive oil to
help moisten foods.
