[Dysphagia] GERD and mucus

  • Subject: [Dysphagia] GERD and mucus

With the knowledge that GERD is often associated with increased mucous

production, where does the mucous actually come from...the nasal

sinuses, the stomach???
*** The esophagus. Lined with mucous secreting tissue, it is doing its job in reacting to acid and protecting the epithelium of the esophagus ? hence mucus production that must be cleared.
