[Dysphagia] Training of volunteers

Hello,

I work in a residential care facility for people living with disabilities.
The SP team provides mealtime management/swallowing training to all new paid
staff as part of their induction process. We have had a request from the
Volunteer Coordinator to provide training to volunteers who take the
residents out for day excursions. Currently the volunteers do not provide
any assistance with mealtimes.

I realise that the legal liability issue for volunteers is different to paid
staff (in Australia) - just wondering if any other SP's have had such a
request - or are providing training. We do not credential staff (i.e. pass
out certificates) as my employer does not have Registered Training
Organisation status.

Any thoughts are very welcome

Regards

Michael Bebb
