[Dysphagia] acute care screenings
If we did a full evaluation on every screen patient just
because it was marked "yes" for "swallow difficulty?"
on the nursing admission assessment, we would need
to hire a few more SLPs. We don't know the
reason for the swallow difficulty until we go to
do the screen......it may just be a 20 year old with
strept throat. These are the instances we want to avoid.
Any input on a better trigger mechanism for screens would
be helpful.
