[Dysphagia] responses regarding fast food and diet modification

Just wanted to send a follow-up note about my original question from last week, the question about fast-food menu items that would be considered minced or pureed. Thanks to everyone who responded! I didn't have time to send individual thanks. I got lots of responses sent to my private e-mail instead of to the list. So I figured I would cut and paste these responses for whoever is interested. (A few people e-mailed me saying they were interested in seeing the responses I received!)

Below are the responses that were sent to me privately instead of to the list. I am going to give mom some of these suggestions as well as look into the Baby Food Mill and the Dining Out booklet that were suggested in messages sent to the list. Thanks, everyone!

you should suggest to watch the movie "supersize me" and that should
eliminate all fast food consumption and then there will be no worry of
puree/minced consistency.

Doesn't Wendys have chili now? that might be an option.

Well, the soft serve ice cream or yogurt, scrambled eggs, smoothies
might be available and easily eaten. Some of the hash browns may work but the rest is
certainly geared toward those who can chew. Some places have apple sauce or pie which may work.

I know some fast food restaurants are serving applesauce in place of french fries in kids meals. However, I can't remember which restaurants. Perhaps the mother could send a single serving of applesauce or pudding with the child to be eaten at the restaurant with friends. McDonalds also has a yogurt parfait. It could work if the granola and fruit were removed. Dessert that comes to mind is a sundae with hot fudge or caramel. If they were to go out for breakfast, pancakes with a lot of syrup mashed up, or eggs, or hot cereal.

I remember once talking to a dietician who said that McDonalds
cheeseburgers/hamburgers were designed to melt in your mouth.
When I have had these before they do not require very much chewing at
all,it is only the initial bite. You could try a cheeseburger without any
salad items, maybe try it yourself first and see how much oral
prep/mastication is required.

All I can think of off the top of my head is the frosty desserts at Wendy's are a nice whipped consistency (that would melt to thin), but not terribly nutritious I'm afraid.
