[Dysphagia] Christmas coverage

Hi Rebecca,
I work at Beth Israel Deaconess in Boston, MA and we are a level 1 trauma
center. We do not have to work Christmas, or Christmas Eve for that matter
because we observe several holidays New Year's Day, July4, Labor Day,
Thanksgiving, MLK, Veteran's day, memorial day. Because we are both
outpatient and inpatient, we are allowed to observe holidays and do not have
to work them. The hospital's policy is that clinics observe the holiday on
the preceding day if the holiday falls on a saturday, or the next day if the
holiday is on a sunday.
However, PT & OT are bigger depts and so they have separate inpt PT/OT and
outpt PT/OT - inpt therapists have to work all holidays, but at reduced
staffing levels, whereas outpt therapists do not have to work holidays, or
weekends for that matter.
hope this is helpful
