She may have more success if the food is cohesive or slightly sticky,
thus more likely to stay on the spoon, i.e., the use of gravies and
sauces for meats and vegetables, applesauce/yogurt for fruits or
desserts, etc.

Hi All,

Any suggestions for adapted utensils for a patient that has a
signifcant hand tremor on volitional movements? This patient does not
demonstrate any outward signs of dysphagia but because of motoric
impairments may end up at risk for malnutrition.

The patient is currently on a diced diet, which appears to help ease
self-feeding abilities. The OT on staff has used weighted utensils for
other patients with hand tremors but this may not be good idea for
this
patient because she fatigues easily.

Thank you.
