[Dysphagia] Adapted utensils

  • Subject: [Dysphagia] Adapted utensils

Hi All,

Any suggestions for adapted utensils for a patient that has a
signifcant hand tremor on volitional movements? This patient does not
demonstrate any outward signs of dysphagia but because of motoric
impairments may end up at risk for malnutrition.

The patient is currently on a diced diet, which appears to help ease
self-feeding abilities. The OT on staff has used weighted utensils for
other patients with hand tremors but this may not be good idea for this
patient because she fatigues easily.

Thank you.
