[Dysphagia] Mouth moisturizer by Sage Products

Dear Group,
I was recently at a conference where I was given a sample of a SAGE product
called "Mouth Moisturizer".
It's ingredients are:
water, coconut oil, xylitol, spearmint flavor, sodium carbosymethyl
cellulose, vitamin E acetate, spearmint oil, carbomer 974, polysorbate 20,
polysorbate 80, potassium sorbate, cetylpyridinium chloride.
I know in the past Irene (and others) has been wary of several intra-oral
products that could potentially be aspirated and harm the lungs.
I was wondering if anyone was using this product and if they could give any
insight into associated risk and/or benefits that they are aware of. Or if
anyone could recommend an alternate product or strategy for oral moisture.
I would like to recommend something for a gentleman I recently assessed in
long-term care who is in need of some oral moisturizing (tongue is dry and
coated). He is able to take liquids PO but is early PD with reduced BOT
strength/ROM.
I have learned on the listserv that systemic rehydration is the key when a
mouth is quite dehydrated, so I'll certainly recommend that to begin with,
however, I would also like to suggest something 'topical' as well.
Thanks to all who respond,
Kim
