[Dysphagia] studies on aspiration

The amount that can be tolerated varies enormously by the health of the
individual. An individual who is walking around and does not have any
pulmonary problems can manage much better than a patient with COPD who is
bed bound. Whether the individual has a productive cough is a large factor.

Does anyone know of any studies showing how much aspiration people can
tolerate? Thanks.
