[DYSPHAGIA] Endoscopic sheaths

We don't use them with every FEES because of the cost issue, but they
come in handy when we've got back-to-back studies to do since it takes
quite a bit of time to run our scope down to endoscopy where it can be
sterilized. We also use the sheaths as an extra protection barrier
followed by sterilization in Cidex when doing a FEES on someone with an
infection control issue (e.g., MRSA, HIV, etc.). If the sheath is
placed on the scope properly there aren't really any clarity issues.

I'd love to hear your rationale for using the endosheaths. (i.e. Time
savings, decr equipment wear, incr infection control??) What about
the
cons? (Decr clarity?) We are considering using them if the pros
outweigh
the cons.

Thanks, Teresa

We use the endosheaths from Vision Sciences as well.

Hello everyone

The acute rehab facility I work at has been using 3.5 mm endospope
sheaths
for our FEES. However, the sheaths we have in stock have expired and
Smith
and Nephew no longer produce the product. Does anyone know of any
other
company that makes sheaths?

Thanks
