[DYSPHAGIA] A Question for Hospital SLPs

I work at a 150 bed acute care community hospital.

1. Does your facility provide seven-day (weekend) SLP services?

No, ST & OT only 6 due to difficulties finding enough staff to cover all days. We live in a small community and there are not very many SLP's around. I am the only full time SLP and we have a couple on call people so we rotate weekends. No one wants to work 7 days a week.

2. If so, do you treat all patients? only acute? only rehab? only new
consults?

Depends how busy we are. Always new evals and if we feel there is time we prioritize the others.

3. If not, have you had any problems with third party reimbursement due to
not providing seven days of treatment?

Never. However, the nurses and doctors don't always like that we are not there 7 days a week.
