[DYSPHAGIA] A Question for Hospital SLPs
- Subject: [DYSPHAGIA] A Question for Hospital SLPs
- From: PHoward@archbold.org (Howard, Patti)

1. Does your facility provide seven-day (weekend) SLP services?
No. We have a call back list and a specific protocol for which
patients qualify for SLP services on call. In the five years I have worked
here, we have only been called in twice (both times for a newborn baby with
a cleft palate--feeding problems).
2. If so, do you treat all patients? only acute? only rehab? only new
consults?
N/A
3. If not, have you had any problems with third party reimbursement due to
not providing seven days of treatment?
None.
I would appreciate responses from as many of you as possible. Please
include the size and general location of your hospital. Thanks in advance
for your time!
My small hospital is part of a group consisting of one large and
four small community hospitals in various towns in south Georgia. The
largest hospital has 300 beds and includes acute care and inpatient rehab.
The small hospitals range from 30 to 80 beds and include acute care and
subacute care.
Hope this helps!

Senior Speech-Language Pathologist
