[DYSPHAGIA] Blue dye test

  • Subject: [DYSPHAGIA] Blue dye test

Greetings. I have a question about the blue dye test. If the patient was
given multiple swallows of thin liquid and no blue dye was suctioned at the
time, but later light blue secretions were suctioned does this mean
vallecular or pyriform sinus residue that eventually trickled into the
airway? Pt. is not managing secretions? Or could it just be osmosis?

Thanks,
Ann Wallace
