[DYSPHAGIA] FEES training
Janet & Dysphagia List Participants:
While I have not been formally trained and have not personally passed a
scope, I have been around its use and have been personally scoped as
part of an extensive demonstration of the scope at Julliard School of
Music. Just this week I was sharing information on extent of scope use
in assessment of velopharyngeal function with cleft palate patients. It
appears that the use has grown quite significantly, particularly in the
medical setting. I predicted to my class that training in its use would
become standard in our training programs very soon since it is an
important tool for voice, swallowing, and velopharyngeal assessments. I
plan to request such instrumentation and seek an instructor to come in
to teach its use. Not sure of the time line required to accomplish this,
however.
