[DYSPHAGIA] FEES training
I received my training from Susan Langmore and Joe Murray in Ann Arbor MI. The facility I was at outlined in our privileging that the therapist must attend an approved course by a recognized person in FEES, ie Langmore, Murray, Crary, etc and then we had specific privileging guidelines or how the mentoring would be done by an already privileged SLP. They have the same planned for my current facility and I will support that. If I ever have the time, I would consider teaching a course also after having done them for 7 years (and would seek ASHA CEU to support), but feel that if I have access to the above folks I will prefer to use them. Our ENT supported this also and I think that is really important, that we, ASHA, maintain that communication also. Hope this helps and hope we don't lose these abilities to train and mentor our own.

In preparation for meeting with the Health Care Financing Administration, ASHA would like to be able to respond to questions that might arise about the availability of training in FEES. ASHA would like to alleviate any concerns about safety and reinforce the case that SLPs can perform the procedure autonomously.
It would be very helpful if you would share the source of where you received your training if you attended an outside course (name of trainer and location). I'm sure other members of the list would find the information interesting if you would respond to All; or, I would be happy to receive your message privately.
