It would be very important to rule out cervical spine anomolies, such as
osteophytes as well as cervical lordosis, as possible contributing factors to
swallowing difficulties, inclusive of aspiration. I have observed a number
of MR/DD patients with such disorders, which had gone undetected for many
years. Such findings would reinforce the need for more comprehensive
pharyngeal/esophageal motility assessments, during the modified barium
swallow study!!
