[DYSPHAGIA] question on dysphagia

  • Subject: [DYSPHAGIA] question on dysphagia

Hi,
I am currently a second year graduate student and I have a few questions
that I have came across at my clinical placement.
We have been discussing various disorders that we may see as a SLP. One
that we discussed is a middle age woman who present with a voice disorder and
difficulty swallowing certain item, her main complain being bread. A MBS was
done to rule out dysphagia. The MBS showed that her swallow was normal. Her
voice problem range form running out of breath to changes in pitch
form low to excessively high. It is thought that her problems maybe
psychogenic. I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on how to
counsel a patient of this nature.

Thank you
Beverly
