Self-Expanding Metallic Stents With Anti-Reflux Valve for Distal Esophageal Carcinoma

In patients with unresectable distal esophageal carcinoma, self-expanding metallic stents (SEMS) with antireflux valves are more efficient in prevention of trans-prosthetic reflux than SEMS without the valve but with proton-pump inhibitor (PPI) therapy and posture advice, according to a randomised study presented at the United European Gastroenterology Week.
